Make sure that your e-mail address is added and correct under Your Profile in order to receive notification of documents being delivered to your Secure Mailbox.

Terms of Use

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS OF USE CAREFULLY AND PRINT A COPY FOR YOUR RECORDS. THESE TERMS OF USE WILL GOVERN YOUR USE OF THIS WEBSITE:

This website ("Site") is provided to you ("you") by the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan ("HOOPP"). Your access to and use of this Site is subject to these Terms of Use (the "TOU"). By selecting Log On, you indicate your acceptance of the TOU and agree to be bound by them whether or not you have read them.

HOOPP may at its sole discretion modify the TOU at any time and such modifications will be effective immediately upon being posted on this Site. Your continued use of this Site will indicate your acceptance of this modified TOU. If you do not agree to any modification of the TOU, you must immediately stop using this Site.

    Not a Representative

  1. You confirm that you are a HOOPP member or pensioner acting on your own behalf. You are not acting as a representative of a HOOPP member or pensioner. You understand that such representatives are required to contact HOOPP directly by phone or mail correspondence.
  2. Your Instructions

  3. Any actions that you take on this Site, including any instructions, choices, or requests that you provide, will be treated and relied on by HOOPP as your written permission to HOOPP to provide information or conduct transactions on your behalf, in accordance with the Plan Text and HOOPP's policies and procedures.
  4. HOOPP reserves the right not to act on any action that you take, including any instruction, choice or request that you provide, if it considers, acting reasonably, that such action is illegal, unclear, inaccurate, improper or not properly authorized.
  5. Privacy, Confidentiality and Security of Information

  6. When registering on this Site, you agree to provide accurate, true and complete information about yourself and to promptly update the information to keep it accurate, true and complete.
  7. You understand and agree that HOOPP will use certain of your personal information (such as your user ID, Social Insurance Number (SIN), password, security answers, or other identifier) to verify your identity in order to provide you with access to this Site. It is your responsibility to contact HOOPP immediately if you have any reason to believe that someone has gained unauthorized access to your user ID, SIN, password, security answers, or any other identifier.
  8. You understand and agree that this Site permits you to request or provide personal information. You alone are responsible for any loss of privacy or confidentiality of this information if you disclose your user ID, SIN, password, security answers, or other identifier to any person or entity other than HOOPP in connection with the services delivered to you through this Site. You alone are responsible for the security of your password.
  9. You understand and agree that the security of your information requires that you exercise safe computing practices. You agree to review, on a regular basis, those sections on this Site that deal with security. You will ensure that you properly sign out, log off, disconnect and close your browser, as appropriate, after each session in which you have accessed this Site to prevent anyone else from accessing your information without your permission or knowledge. In addition, you agree to implement and maintain up-to-date safe computing practices which will include, but are not limited to, the following minimum security measures:
    1. internet browser software with strong encryption technology and applicable software patches;
    2. anti-virus and anti-spyware software;
    3. an up-to-date operating system with applicable software patches; and
    4. a firewall system.
  10. You consent to HOOPP accessing or disclosing the information in your account: (a) if required to do so by law; (b) if HOOPP has reasonable grounds to believe that you are in breach of the TOU; or (c) as required by HOOPP to manage or administer your pension benefits.
  11. You agree not to, nor make any attempts to,: (a) transmit any worm, viruses or other harmful, disruptive or destructive files, code or programs on this Site or the network and systems of HOOPP or/and its service providers; (b) disrupt the normal flow on this Site or otherwise act in a manner that negatively affects other users to use this Site; (c) interfere with, disrupt, or harm in any way this Site or servers or networks connected to this Site; (d) use this Site to access the accounts of others without permission; (e) penetrate security measures of this Site or obtain or bypass others' passwords; or (f) engage in denial of service attacks, or take actions designed to impair network access by flooding a site or the Internet with useless traffic.
  12. Reliance On Information

  13. This Site may include inaccuracies or typographical errors that may be corrected as they are discovered at HOOPP's sole discretion. Tools used on this Site to calculate various benefit estimates are for your convenience only and may contain miscalculations. HOOPP may change the content of this Site at any time without notice to you.

  15. This Site may contain links or references to third party websites. These links are provided for your convenience only. No endorsement of any third party products, services or information is expressed or implied by any information, material or content of any third party contained or referred to in, included on, or linked from or to this Site. Any information, data, opinions, recommendations, products or services provided by such third parties through links to other websites or otherwise made available through their websites are solely those of such third parties and not of HOOPP or its trustees, officers, employees, agents or contractors. Your use of such third party websites is subject to the terms and conditions of use and the privacy policies of such websites.
  16. Intellectual Property

  17. You acknowledge and agree that all copyrighted materials, trade-marks and other intellectual property and proprietary rights on this Site are that of HOOPP or its licensors ("HOOPP Materials"). Nothing contained on this Site will be construed as conferring on you any right to any HOOPP Materials other than your limited right to use this Site for your personal use and in accordance with the TOU. You agree not to infringe on any rights of HOOPP and its licensors. You also agree that you will not alter or remove any copyright, trade-mark, or any other notice from any authorized copy of the content on this Site. This provision will survive the termination of your right to use this Site.
  18. Disclaimer of Warranties

  19. THIS SITE, THE MATERIALS, CONTENT, TOOLS, LINKS, FORMS AND SERVICES OFFERED THROUGH OR CONTAINED ON THIS SITE ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS:

HOOPP makes no representations, warranties, guarantees or conditions of any kind, whether express or implied, arising from statute, course of dealing, usage of trade or otherwise, with respect to this Site, the materials, content, tools, links, forms and services offered through or contained on this Site, and disclaims all such representations, warranties, guarantees and conditions, including without limitation, representations, warranties, guarantees and conditions of merchantability, merchantable quality, quality or fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement of third party rights, error-free or uninterrupted service, accuracy, availability, usability, suitability, reliability, security, currency and completeness. All representations, warranties, guarantees and conditions are hereby disclaimed to the maximum extent permitted by applicable laws. This provision will survive the termination of your right to use this Site.

    Inaccuracies

You are responsible for reviewing any information or confirmation statements provided or transmitted to you by HOOPP (on paper or in electronic form) regarding any actions that you take through this Site, including any instructions, choices, or requests that you provide through this Site. If there are any inaccuracies, you are responsible for correcting them within 10 days using the tools available to you on this Site or by contacting HOOPP's Client Services at clientservices@hoopp.com to inform HOOPP of any inaccuracies.
  22. Liability

  23. You understand and agree that: (a) this Site may not perform the desired functions as intended at all times, and (b) HOOPP, its trustees, officers, employees, its agents, its contractors, or its licensors are not responsible for any error, omission, interruption or delay in operation of or transmission through this Site, communication line failure, system failure, or other circumstances beyond their control.
  24. HOOPP is not liable for any losses or damages that you experience as a result of:
    1. your failure to comply with your obligations under the TOU;
    2. any mistake, error, omission, inaccuracy or inadequacy in the information, or any action that you take while accessing the Site, including any instructions, choices or requests that you provide to HOOPP;
    3. any fraudulent, dishonest or criminal acts that you engage in with respect to this Site or HOOPP; and
    4. your disclosure of your user ID, SIN, password, security answers, or other identifiers to any person or entity other than HOOPP.
  25. IN NO EVENT WILL HOOPP OR ITS TRUSTEES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AGENTS OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (whether direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential, punitive or any other damages including without limitation damages for loss of data, income, loss of or damage to property, and failure to realize expected economic benefits), however caused or even if HOOPP has been advised of the possibility of such damages or losses, arising out of or in connection with:
    1. the TOU; or
    2. this Site, including without limitation:
      1. any error, omission, interruption or delay in operation of or transmission through this Site, communication line failure or system failure;
      2. any inaccuracies contained on this Site or in information accessed or obtained by you from this Site; or
      3. any materials, content, tools, links, forms and services offered through or contained on this Site or the inability to use same.

    The foregoing limitations and exclusions will apply irrespective of the nature of the cause of action, demand or claim, including in the nature of a breach of contract, tort (whether for negligence, gross negligence, or otherwise) or any other legal theory and whether or not arising out of a breach of condition or fundamental term or a fundamental breach and/or failure of essential purpose of the TOU.

    You acknowledge and agree that the foregoing limitations and exclusions are fair and reasonable having regard to the free-of-charge conditions under which your access to this Site is granted. This provision will survive the termination of your right to use this Site.

    Indemnification

  26. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HOOPP and its trustees, officers, employees, contractors, agents and licensors from and against all claims, liability and expenses, including without limitation all legal fees and costs (on a full indemnity basis) arising from or relating to (a) your breach of the TOU; and (b) your use of this Site. This provision will survive the termination of your right to use this Site.
  27. Termination

  28. HOOPP may at any time and at its sole discretion terminate your right to use this Site or cease to provide this Site.
  29. Plan Documents

  30. Some of the material contained on this Site is based on the Plan Text. The material contained on this Site is not, nor is it intended to constitute a legal Plan document. In addition, there may be situations where the Plan Text provides different benefits to different members, depending on their individual circumstances. Generally, this Site displays only those benefits that are applicable to a member, based on his or her individual circumstances. Efforts have been made to ensure the accuracy of this material but in the event of that there is a conflict between the TOU or any information, material or content contained on this Site and the terms of the Plan Text or HOOPP's policies, the terms of the Plan Text or HOOPP's policies will prevail. If you believe the benefits which are presented as your entitlements through the use of the Site are not accurately presented, please contact HOOPP's Client Services at clientservices@hoopp.com.
  31. General Terms

  32. The TOU and the terms of use on www.hoopp.com/help/terms/ constitute the entire agreement between you and HOOPP with respect to your use of this Site and supersede all previous agreements, understandings and representations relating to your use of this Site. In the event of any conflict between the TOU and such terms of use on www.hoopp.com, the TOU will prevail.
  33. The TOU will be governed by, construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein.
  34. No failure by HOOPP or you to exercise any rights, powers or remedies under the TOU or its delay to do so will constitute a waiver of these rights, powers or remedies. The single or partial exercise of a right, power or remedy will not prevent its subsequent exercise or the exercise of any other right, power or remedy.
  35. If any provision of the TOU or part thereof is or becomes illegal, invalid or unenforceable in any jurisdiction, the illegality, invalidity or unenforceability of that provision will not affect the legality, validity or enforceability of the remainder of the provision or provisions of the TOU, as the case may be.

Six steps to sign up

  1. Accept the Terms of Use.
  2. Select Register as a New User.
  3. Enter the last four digits of your social insurance number (SIN) and your birth date (mm-dd-yyyy).
  4. Enter your postal code (you must use the postal code which your employer or HOOPP has on file).
  5. Create a user ID (at least 8 characters) and password (4 to 20 characters). Use any combination of letters and numbers, but do not use special characters such as &, etc. If you already have a password for HOOPP's phone system, use it here as well.
  6. Choose five security questions and answers and click "save questions and continue." Click "continue" to enter HOOPP Connect. When you have completed your session, make sure to log off.
